Fusion Arts presents From Gaza: A Personal Story of Survival by Ahmed Abu Aisha showing in the Window Galleries on Friar's Entry from 9th June - 12 July 2026

"This exhibition does not represent our ordinary lives. Every photograph you see here was taken during the seven months I lived through the genocide in Gaza, beginning in July 2023. Please do not mistake these images as reflections of who we are in times of peace. They capture a period defined by unimaginable violence, fear, and loss. I photographed each moment because I knew I would never be able to forget it—scenes of survival, displacement, hunger, and bombing, as well as the fragile fragments of daily life that persisted around us.

When I took these photos, I never intended to share them publicly. They were simply my memories—my way of holding on to the people and places I loved. But I became one of the few who managed to evacuate. With that undeserved luck came a responsibility: to speak with everything I have, to show what I witnessed, and to share what my family and all Gazans continue to endure. Within these images are my family members, relatives, neighbours, and strangers who were simply trying to live their lives amid devastation. Nearly everyone you see in these photographs have been killed—some while searching for shelter, others while receiving aid, and many while sitting in what should have been the safety of their homes or tents.

Through these photographs, I hope to create a space for reflection—on these people, on my family who is still suffering, and on all vulnerable communities around the world. Each person in these frames had a full life, dreams, and loved ones. My hope is that this exhibition serves as a reminder that every choice we make has the power to affect another human being, even those living far beyond the borders of our own daily lives."
