Venue, Timing and Cost

A matinee performance of an exciting 'cross-over' project which joins 4-piece folk band Moonrakers with string quartet, OXUS - eight musicians on stage - to celebrate the music and folk song influences of Vaughan Williams. The show was commissioned by the Vaughan Williams Festival in 2022 and is sponsored by the Vaughan Williams Foundation.
OXUS will perform the fourth movement of Quartet No.1 in G minor, the Phantasy Quintet and excerpts from Dives and Lazarus. Moonrakers will perform new arrangements of songs such as “The Leaves They Do Grow High”, “The Turtle Dove”, “Two Sisters” and “The Unquiet Grave”. The show also includes some new music written by Moonrakers members, Jon Bennett and Jacqui Johnson. Brief introductions on the source of the materials will form part of the show and will take the audience on a journey from traditional to contemporary interpretations of ‘living tradition’ material.
