When? Saturday 7 September from 10-4pm, with a coffee and lunch break
What? This workshop delves into the principles of yin and yang from Chinese philosophy, emphasising the importance of both painted and unpainted areas in creating harmonious watercolour art. You will explore how negative space can enhance your compositions, bringing balance and depth to your paintings.
You will look at examples of negative space, discuss, and share how it can create balance and harmony in a painting before watching a live painting demonstration of a nature abstract scene to see those principles in action.
You will learn about creating hierarchy and explore ideas for creating focal points the philosophy behind this. To put these ideas into practice you will do exercises together to really understand the principles of creating a Masterpiece. Finally, using reference to break down the subject, you will apply your learning throughout the day to create a final painting.
The workshop will end with a group discussion and personalised insights to take away with you.
Who? All welcome; no experience necessary; age 16+ (under 18s should attend with an adult). Max group size: 12. This course is ideal for complete beginners or as a refresher for those with some experience of screen-printing.

apron / clothes you done mind getting paint on
sketchbook
pencil
An art portfolio or something to take your work home in
