Watercolour Techniques

This course will be beneficial to all levels of artists in watercolour because it concentrates on techniques fundamental to understanding and exploiting the medium. Clear tutor demonstrations followed by practice emphasise the core principles of timing, pigment to water ratio on the brush and relative dryness or wetness of the paper. In addition, the importance of brushwork, tonal values, colour mixing and compositional considerations such as the placement of the focal point will give students greater confidence in their decision making when they transfer these skills to their own work.
