The Beat Of A Butterfly’s Wing
Exhibition runs until 3 June 2023

A series of portraits and still life scenes exploring the photographer’s own identity and sexual politics. These meditative and intimate images move from the peace of a childhood walk to a nude in a public park, bringing a struggle into sharp relief: tranquillity versus the unseen threat of violence towards queer bodies.

The title refers to the ‘butterfly effect’ of chaos theory. The current moment depicted in each image is a culmination of all the events which came before it, a journey of unstoppable velocity. These moments hold within them all the pain and joy that defines queerness, offering a triumphant celebration of our bodies and identities.
