Mark Padmore gives a fascinating lecture-recital on Benjamin Britten and four of the poets he set to music: W.H. Auden, Thomas Hardy, John Donne and William Soutar. He is joined by the writer and broadcaster Kate Kennedy, and as they examine the carefully varied approach Britten takes to the setting of each poet’s words, Mark performs selected songs with the excellent young pianist Ana Manastireanu.
