Sunningwell School of Art offers a wide variety of art and pottery courses for young people aged 4 to 18 years from Mondays and Thursdays at 4.30pm to 6pm. Details below:

ART AND DESIGN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (11-14s) with Emma Williams
Mondays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £176

Create freely without pressure. These sessions are designed to be exploratory and engaging. Experiment with a whole host of different materials and techniques that can help to broaden your work and increase your confidence.

CREATIVE FUN FOR CHILDREN (5-8s) with Ali Berrett
Mondays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £176

Children will be given opportunities to explore different media and techniques in small groups. 3D recycled cardboard, mono-printing, mod-roc sculpture and colourful painting are just some of the projects designed to develop imagination and experience the enjoyment and fun of being creative.

POTTERY FOR YOUNG PEOPLE with Pam Foley
Mondays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £187

For children and young people who enjoy working with clay. The courses will include modelling, hand building, and throwing as students become more skilled. Many types of clay are available – stoneware, porcelain and crank. A wide selection of glazes, slips and decorating materials can be employed including the use of glass if desired.
All students are individually taught and all the courses are suitable for complete beginners in addition to more advanced students. Firing is by the oxidation method using electric kilns.

Tuesdays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £176

These sessions are designed to be fun and help children develop a life-long love of creativity. Each session is carefully planned to encourage children to use new materials, gain new skills and then have time to explore their full potential. The small class size allows the sessions to be tailored to the interests and learning styles of the children taking part. Sometimes messy, always fun!

FUNDAMENTALS OF ART AND DESIGN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (14-18s) with Charlotte Houlihan
Wednesdays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £190

This course specifically designed for young people aged between 14 and 18. The classes will be taught independent of any curriculum boundaries and will focus on how the individual approaches, interprets and responds to the environment we live in. The class will have a maximum of 10 students who will participate in group, peer, and one-to-one learning.
The classes will encourage independence of thought and personal creative choices through studying the fundamentals of art and design. Students will explore materials and media, scale, mark making, colour, tone and composition in drawing, painting, printmaking and three-dimensional work. Individual characteristics that emerge through study will be developed and enhanced as the course progresses.
Our aim is to provide our young people with a broader vision, an art school environment and a portfolio of work that showcases their creative choices, demonstrates their curiosity and reflects their enjoyment of art and design. Enrolment is on a term by term basis. Students can hold their place for as long as they wish (up to the age of 18).

ART EXPLORERS (5-8s) with Julia Simmons
Wednesdays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £176

Art Explorers is designed to be a fun way of exploring your child’s creative potential and will cover the use of a variety of materials, all materials are provided by the school and are included in the fee. The tutor is Julia Simmons, Julia is a primary school teacher and visual artist specialising in drawing, painting & printing.

ART AND DESIGN FOR YOUNG PEOPLE (11-14s) with Emma Williams
Thursdays 4.30pm to 6pm

Create freely without pressure. These sessions are designed to be exploratory and engaging. Experimental with a whole host of different materials and techniques that can help to broaden your work and increased your confidence. Timed drawings, suggested activities and sketching from life regularly will enable you to develop your creative skills without the pressure of having to create work for a specific project or deadline. Each session is supplemented with information about other artists who have used the techniques or worked with similar themes.

Thursdays 4.30pm to 6pm

Course fee £176

The children have the opportunity in small groups to enjoy and experiment with a whole range of media. During the sessions the children are able to explore various techniques and approaches.
