English Harp Project
Q: What do you do when you fall in love with playing folk harp but there's no tradition in your country?
A: Explore the music, adapt it for harp and share it with everyone!
Steph West is bringing alive the joy and energy of playing English trad on the harp through lively jigs, cheeky hornpipes, melancholy slow airs and evocative songs. This project celebrates the rich and varied styles of English traditional music whilst placing the rippling sound of harp at the forefront. Featuring expansive piano accordion from Tom Evans (Understory, Shooting Roots) and vibrant fiddle from Matt Coatsworth (Boldwood, Warleggan Village Band), Steph invites you to geek out on England’s musical traditions whilst being swept along with the flow of the show.

Owl Light Trio are Jim Penny on concertina, Jane Griffiths on fiddle and viola and Colin Fletcher on guitar. All three musicians have deep roots in traditional music, share a passion for tunes from Ireland, the UK and Brittany, and draw upon their combined influences to create complex, compelling and heartfelt arrangements. Between them they have performed and recorded with Maddy Prior, Nancy Kerr, Tim van Eyken, Red Dog Green Dog and Duotone. Owl Light Trio has performed at Oxford, Sidmouth, Shrewsbury, Tandem and Klangrausch folk festivals. Their debut album ‘Owl Light’ was described by fRoots as “A fine CD of beautifully-crafted music that is both memorable and clever”.
