‘All it takes is one experiment to turn the universe on its head.’

There’s no scientific reason why time goes forwards. And, after her Dad’s funeral, Lucy is determined to prove that it doesn’t have to.

She starts looking for a way to return to the past, using Einstein’s theory of relativity… and a lot of burnt toast.

Her partner Phil can only watch as Lucy turns their flat upside down, using her scientific knowledge to dig deeper and deeper into laws of the universe. Try as he might to keep her grounded in their life and reality, Lucy has put her faith in Physics. There’s no going back.

Supernova is a moving and funny new play about love, grief and Physics. It’s an intimate story of two young people trying to come to terms with their past and their future, while the world around them is falling apart.

The debut play of Lizzy Mansfield (BBC Comedy Writer’s Room 2020-2021), Supernova is directed by award-winning director Fay Lomas.
