Course description:

‘Leitmotif’ is a term originating from opera, where it referred to a recurring melody that played along with a character or allusion to a theme whenever one or the other appeared on stage. Previously more commonly spelled ‘leitmotiv’, it derives from the German words for ‘leading’ (leit) and ‘motive’ (Motif).

Live Motif! is a life drawing class in which we use pieces of set, costume, narrative and curation to create imaginative contexts for the figure. Expect something different every time: one week might host a Shibari artist, the next, a figure within a dramatic set, inspired by a poem. Each session’s theme/ inspiration will be revealed at the beginning of each class and participants are encouraged to contribute ideas for future sessions.

Please note that this class is untutored but optional drawing exercises will be available.

Class tutor: This class will be untutored but will be facilitated by Rosie McLean

Materials required to take part in this course: Participants are required to bring their own drawing materials however, paper will be available to purchase during each class (20p per sheet, please bring exact change).

Parking: Unfortunately we can only offer use of the car park to participants if they have mobility issues, as we cannot guarantee a parking space (due to unauthorised parking).
