Tavener – Svyati
Bach – Cello Suite no 2
Duruflé – Requiem

Garwyn Linnell cello

What makes Duruflé's Requiem unique is the presence of Gregorian Chant, each movement inspired by a plainsong melody from the Mass.
Syvati derives from the chanting of the Eastern Orthodox church; the plangent cello represents the Priest, the choir sings as the coffin is borne out of the church.
In the cello suites Bach is at his most intimate.
