Launching this Sunday, 'Preserving in Stitch' is a contemporary textiles exhibition by Artist Teacher Carolyn Hall that explores identity, culture and the repurposing of inherited belongings relating to her Dutch-Indonesian heritage. ⠀

In this new show, Hall uses fabric, clay as well as objects and fragments left behind by her ancestors to piece together stories and preserve memories inspired by the events her mother recorded for the BBC War Archives about her experiences as a child in occupied Indonesia during WW2.

"Heritage is personal identity and culture creates patterns. I am challenging the patterns I have generated so far through my life by probing the historical journey of my family tree."⠀

This intriguing new show will be on display in the #WindowGalleries along Friars Entry in Oxford from Sunday 13th - Saturday 26th February, free and available to visit any time! Drop by from this Sunday to learn more...
