Brindley Sherratt is one of the world’s leading basses, appearing on major opera and concert stages around the globe. He and equally renowned pianist Julius Drake bring the Oxford Lieder Spring Song 2022 to a close with glorious bass songs by Schubert and Brahms, and a selection of songs by English composers including Finzi, Gurney and Howells. The programme begins with the last of our Emerging Artist slots, once again highlighting the rich and important history of women composers in the song repertoire.

Emerging Artists
Oxford Lieder's commitment to presenting outstanding emerging artists continues, with each evening recital beginning with a 15-minute showcase for an exceptional duo. The Spring Song 2022 Emerging Artists are presented in association with SWAP’ra and highlight the exceptionally rich repertoire of songs by women composers. Tonight we hear soprano Katherine McIndoe with pianist JongSun Woo, including songs by Margaret Bonds and Johanna Müller-Hermann.
