Cardiff Opera is a touring opera company based in Wales’ capital city. Although a relatively new ensemble, we have already made an impact on singers and audiences alike with our production of Handel’s Giulio Cesare and and our recent, sold out, concert tour of Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro. Our aim is to present engaging and affirming performances that focus on storytelling, interesting characters and creating the most beautiful music we can achieve. We always aim to offer opportunities to young professional singers, directors, conductors and instrumentalists to build vital stages in their developing careers in a safe and supportive but also artistically demanding environment.

Patience is a beloved comedy by Gilbert and Sullivan. In Cardiff Opera’s modern reinterpretation, Patience is a young girl who can’t understand why all her classmates are infatuated with Bunthorne, a man who fancies himself something of a poet. Throughout this classic operetta, misunderstandings and romantic mishaps abound as Patience attempts to discover the meaning of true love and, most crucially, what is considered truly “aesthetic”.
