As part of Great Big Green Week Oxfordshire, join us for a one-hour phytogram introductory session taught by photographer John A. Blythe. This is an environmentally friendly cameraless photographic process that combines lumen printing and the chemigram technique to make beautiful botanical images on photographic paper. Unlike conventional analogue photography, this process does not require a darkroom and uses homemade, non-toxic, sustainable developer to create the images.

This session will give you insight into the philosophy of the sustainable photography movement, how to make the developer (a recipe you can take away and make at home) and a chance to make phytograms on a selection of different silver gelatine photographic papers using foraged plant materials.

Simple, accessible, unpredictable and playful in nature, the phytogram technique is a fun process that leaves almost endless possibility for experimentation!

This workshop is suitable for adults (18 and over) and children aged 12 and over who are accompanied by an adult.

This event is part of Oxfordshire's Great Big Green Week, 8 days of events (18 – 26th September) helping and encouraging people and organisations to act and help tackle the climate crisis, and to protect and improve our environment. The week is part of the national Great Big Green Week and will take place five weeks before world leaders meet in Glasgow for the United Nations ‘COP26’ Climate Conference.

The session would usually cost £25 general admission or £15 for students and under 18s.

For this special Great Big Green Week Oxfordshire session, we are instead accepting donations.

Please note: There are two workshop time options. This is the 10 - 11am workshop.
