ronapainting gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of new works: Alison Berrett, Diving Deep from Thursday 5th August to Saturday 4th September.
Berrett’s compositions draw together elements of landscape and seascape in abstraction and form. Her mark making is presented by a blend of fresh, vivid colour, tone and gestural impression. Berrett’s awe of the natural world and how it may affect our physical condition and psyche, enrich each piece.
Growing up by the coast throughout her early life, drove a desire for frequent trips to the shoreline. She regularly frequents areas of Devon and Cornwall, where the flora further impacts on her artistic practice. She works intuitively, drawing in situ, where her own experience of the surrounding landscape is retained by her physicality and is expressed inherently in her artistic representations. In total the works are a celebration of the colour and movement in nature. Her works imbue a feeling of brightness, vitality and serenity.

Alison Berrett studied Fine art at Exeter College of Art and Design, though has been based in Oxfordshire for some time. This is her first solo show in ten years.

Also on view at the gallery are a selection of alabaster sculptural works by Frederic Chevarin, inspired by forms found in nature. Porcelain ceramics by Robyn Hardyman and raku works by Crabby Taylor complement the vibrant paintings.
