Neon Dance sets out to develop wearable and wall based robots/actuators for a production addressing the themes of loneliness, isolation, companionship and robotics. There will be an opportunity to explore these themes further with an activity following the talk. The activity will involve connecting with a person in your local community through a letter on one or more of these themes. It is run by cultural connector Alma Kremnitzer who is aiming to connect the people of Oxford with Neon Dance and create common ground over Prehension Bloom's themes.
Adrienne Hart (Artistic Director, Neon Dance) will be joined by Hemma Philamore (University of Bristol’s Robotics Lab) , Professor Marina Jirotka and Dr Helena Webb (Human Centered Computing at Oxford University) to discuss the creation of teleoperated robots in response to the question: “How can I be present and connect with other bodies in a space where I am not?”.
