Venue, Timing and Cost
Ian Taylor started this body of work as a project to memorialise the brief interactions that we have with strangers throughout our lives. Ian would generate these interactions by talking to strangers on the street; just a normal day that included an unexpected conversation.
Through lockdown it evolved into more. Ian used the project to document his local community during a unique event in our history and, in a bid to broaden the dialogue, he introduced new questions that prompted some unexpected answers. As well as celebrating the diversity of people in Oxfordshire, it became an interesting way for a community to learn more about its members.
Sometimes you should just talk to a stranger, you never know, you might find out something amazing about them.

Be Part Of It
Would you like to be part of #TheExcuseMeProject? On Saturday 6 February from 10am-12pm, Ian will be offering 10 minute slots over Zoom to anyone over 18 who would like their photograph to be featured in the exhibition. Just like his interactions with people in the street, Ian will take your photo and ask your name, what you do and where you live. Your photo will then be added to the project gallery.
