Ever wondered what goes on in the minds of your favourite Shakespearean characters? Ever thought what makes them tick? Why is Hamlet, an affluent young man with seemingly everything going for him, so riddled with doubts and ruminations? How is Julius Caesar, the most powerful man in the civilized world, so prone to panic attacks? And what strange childhood trauma led to Queen Titania’s wanton fixation with donkeys?

The answers are all here in a series of revealing counselling sessions made public for the first time. Watch in awe as a trio of top analysts exorcise the demons from the Bard’s finest and get to the heart of the Iambic Id.

A madcap comedy from Ruff Trade Theatre, Analyse Thou is an accessible piece for young adults upwards; broad enough in comedic appeal for those with limited Shakespearean knowledge, yet peppered with enough textual references and insights to more than satisfy the scholars in the audience. Analyse Thou is part of Oxfordshire Shakespeare Festival 2020, a two-weekly celebration of all things Bard, in conjunction with TMD Media.

‘It managed to be clever without making the audience feel stupid, and funny without being smug’– Daily Info

“Wince-inducing puns and euphemisms abound…fringe theatre that appeals to the intellect”– Jon Lewis, Newbury Gazette
