Our most popular course! We run this course as an introduction to glass fusing using float glass. It’s suitable for complete beginners as well as those with a little knowledge.

We’ll give you some basic theory to get you going and then we’ll experiment with inclusions of metals, crushed coloured glass and many other materials between layers of plain glass. As the day progresses we’ll have short teaching sessions and more raw materials to use. Later we’ll fire your work in our kilns at 820C. This is lots of fun and often produces some quite unexpected results – the process is not without some alchemy! During the day we will be on hand to give as much help as you need. For our float glass and jewellery courses there is a possibility for you each to put a small piece into our test kiln which we will fire on a short cycle during the day to help you to envisage the results possible from kiln firing. We believe this to be a unique opportunity not usually available on glass fusing courses. By the end of the day you will have made some small glass panels, hangings, and bowls ready for firing and normally available within a week.

Our studio facilities are excellent and our teaching environment is relaxed, friendly and informal – as well as benefiting from beautiful views over ancient meadow land!
