In the first of three concerts given by featured artist Jonathan Powell across the season that focus on 19th and 20th century Russian repertoire, Scriabin’s transcendental Tenth Sonata and Rachmaninoff’s well-loved Second Sonata are heard alongside other substantial works by Stanchinsky and Blumenfeld composed in the same 1912-1913 time frame.
