Laura Healy graduated with an MA in Writing and is now studying for a PhD in Creative Writing at The University of Reading, where she also teaches. She has published short stories and non-fiction in the UK and Ireland.

A practical creative writing workshop focusing on nature and animals in both adult and children’s literature.

This workshop is designed for anyone interested in Creative Writing and no experience is needed. You will look at the basic elements required to create fiction and then use practical writing exercises to experiment with them. In particular, you will focus on setting and character with attention to nature and animals. As an experienced tutor, Laura will provide gentle feedback and encourage participants to share their work as they go along. Alongside writing their own work, participants will look at examples from both adult and children’s literature. You should leave with lots of budding ideas and, hopefully, the beginnings of a story, as well as a toolbox of skills to use when writing at home.
