Prize-winning Argentinian soprano Mercedes Gancedo and exciting young pianist Beatriz Miralles have been the Young Artists in Residence at the LIFE Victoria Festival in Barcelona. They present songs by the Spanish composer Xavier Montsalvatge and the Argentinian Alberto Ginastera. At the heart of the programme, the masterful songs of Ginastera’s compatriot Carlos Guastavino, including the famous song ‘The Rose and the Willow’, conjure magical, nocturnal landscapes.
