This afternoon's event looks at the fable in France and Germany from the late 17th century through to the Napoleonic era with a focus on La Fontaine, Lessing and Florian - and a nod or two to Aesop of course. This fascinating talk is illustrated with settings of Lessing by composers including Beethoven and Haydn, performed by Claire Ward and Guy Murgatroyd, recent finalists in the Oxford Lieder Young Artist Platform.
