Venue, Timing and Cost
OCM and Tandem Collective present a double bill of global fusion bands from near and far offering new takes on musical traditions from around the world.
Showcasing the diversity and global roots to be found in Oxford’s own music scene, Brickwork Lizards bring a firey set of their best Cinematic Arabic jazz fusion. The band’s radical re-imaginings of traditional material - from courtly dances of the Ottoman sultans to ancient English hanging songs - evoke centuries of history, and showcase a band adept at crossing borders and taking bold musical risks.
Ethno England Band
20 young musicians arrive in the UK from different corners of the globe, bringing their instruments, voices, experiences and cultures with them, to spend a week together exchanging music and building friendships.
For this event, they present to you the results - a night of world music; a vibrant show bursting with energy, talent and originality. A one-off performance from an ephemeral orchestra of musicians each steeped in their own musical traditions brought together for one week only.
Support the project
Ethno England is part of a global network of projects bringing young musicians from different countries together to break down cultural barriers through positive musical experiences. The peer-to-peer workshops make for a truly collaborative process and allow musical voices from each culture to shine. See our the Ethno England project page for more information.
These projects need a significant subsidy to make sure young musicians from all walks of life can afford to take part. If you would like to support the project and help us cover the costs of things like food, accommodation, and local transport for the musicians, please consider buying a Supporter Ticket - the extra money will go entirely towards the costs of running the Ethno England residential project.
**Where a carer is required their ticket is free of charge. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
