Stand Up History

Stand-up History is an evening of historical stand-up comedy. Archaeologists, historians, and professional comedians present their hysterical historical perspectives on the past. From Ancient Rome, to the history of alcohol, from bloody wars to Tudor love affairs. From ancient myths to modern stand-up riffs, from kings and glory to everything else in history’s repertory!

Previous acts have appeared on BBC Radio 4, Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, including historians responsible for the British Museum membercast, and BBC documentaries. We’ll make sure this time-line-up of comedians has the right credentials from muddy kneed archaeologists to the sharpest stand-ups on the circuit. Previous audience members have said Who knew archaeology could be funny? Or the war of 1812?” “Entertaining, educational and hilarious”

★★★★ “An engaging pairing of learning and good humour! Please let’s have them back” – The Latest

“A nerdy and deeply charming adventure into the funnier bits of history” – Daily Info

At stand-up History If you aren’t laughing, chances are you’re learning.
