Chinese calligraphy celebrates more than a three-thousand-year history and has been regarded as both high art and the most popular applied art in China and in other Eastern Asian countries.

This three-hour Chinese calligraphy workshop is designed for beginners and those with basic Chinese calligraphy training. Knowledge of Chinese language is an advantage but not essential for this course.

The aim of this workshop is to help participants gain a general understanding of the primary styles of Chinese calligraphy and learn fundamental principles and basic skills of kai (standard) Liu Gongquan style to write Chinese characters with a brush.
