An afternoon of classical music with Didcot’s very own symphony orchestra.
Come and hear Didcot’s new symphony orchestra returning for its third concert of music from the Romantic era. Glinka’s popular and exuberant Overture to Russlan and Ludmilla is followed by an unjustly neglected gem – Glazunov’s atmospheric Poème Lyrique. The first half ends with Mussorgsky’s epic Night on the Bare Mountain – depicting a witches’ sabbath, and full of dramatic contrasts.
The second half showcases one of the most popular symphonies of all time – Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no5–with its ebb and flow of emotion and full of tunes you’ll go home humming.
