Presenting a conversation on painting, Blue Screen brings together the work of Jan Crombie and Luke Skiffington. As a term used in the film industry, Blue Screen refers to a technique of using a blue background against which subjects are filmed. Allowing for a separately filmed background to be added to the final image at a later date, this process offers an adaptable space for numerous technical outcomes. Analogous to painting, both artists’ highlight the precarious relationship between the human and tradition of painting alongside the impact of technology and environments in transition.
