Oxford University’s EMPRES Collective and Modern Art Oxford present another evening of aural adventure in the shape of the Art of Noises series. EMPRES will take over our café and basement to present a series of innovative performances and installations that explore the boundaries between music, sound and technology.

For this special event, we are fortunate to be joined by the legendary BBC Radiophonic Workshop for a hands-on electronic music masterclass and discussion, covering topics ranging from the avant-garde works of Delia Derbyshire and Daphne Oram, to the Dr Who theme tune!

We will also welcome internationally renowned sound artist Signe Liden, who will be producing a live site-specific installation. Liden’s work is interested in how places and their histories resonate; in memory, through narratives and various materials, as ideological manifestations and political territories.

There will be additional performances from the Oxford Music graduate and undergraduate community, Young Womens Music Project, Optophono interactive music label, and Wythamscapes sound installation based on Wytham Woods 75th Anniversary.
