Nour Jaouda is the inaugural winner of the Emery Prize! This award is an annual prize, given to one final year Bachelor of Fine Art (BFA) or Master of Fine Art (MFA) student at the Ruskin School of Art. Named after the founder of the Pembroke JCR Art Collection, Anthony Emery, the prize supports the freshest and most exciting artistic talent coming of the University of Oxford.

Jaouda is a Cairo-based Libyan artist is interested in the tactile process of constructing and deconstructing cultural motifs, found objects and historical narratives in order to challenge conventional ideas of identity formation.

She has just completed her undergraduate degree in Fine Art at the Ruskin, exhibiting her striking installation Friday Prayers at Darb Araba (2018) at the Degree Show which took place at the Ruskin’s Bullingdon Road campus from 15th – 20th June 2018. 'The Emery Prize: Nour Jaouda' runs from 6th - 27th October 2018 and will be open to the public from 12pm - 4pm on Fridays and Saturdays in the Pembroke JCR Art Gallery located on 5 Brewer Street, OX1 1QN.
