Thomas Oliemans (Baritone)
Malcolm Martineau (Pianist)

Dutch baritone Thomas Oliemans gave an extraordinary recital at short notice in last year’s Festival, and we are thrilled that he is able to return this year with Malcolm Martineau, one of the world’s great accompanists. They perform Brahms’ only song cycle, Die schöne Magelone: a tale of medieval chivalry and a love story, with poetry taken from Ludwig Tieck’s Romance of the Fair Magelone and Count Peter of Provence. Alongside this, we hear Schumann’s peerless Liederkreis, Op.39, setting poems by Eichendorff.
