Imagined or Experienced: Constructed Photographic Landscapes:
On 14 June, artist and former Ruskin School of Art student, Aliki Braine, will present her photographic landscape works and discuss how the manipulation of her negatives allow the material nature of photographs to participate in the making of her images. Her practice is heavily informed by her work and research as an art historian working on the history of seventeenth century landscape painting.

Through her work Aliki explores the physical nature of photographic images and the debt photography owes to the history of western European painting. Often folding, drawing with ink, punching holes or overlaying her negatives with adhesive labels, Aliki violates the pristine surface of the photograph forcing the viewer to acknowledge the photograph as an object and the image as a construct and opening up a new understanding of the photographic process.

This is a free event.
Booking is advised using this Online Form - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQ...
