Join us for the first in a new series of informal weekday morning talks at OVADA. Professionals working in the creative industries will be invited to talk about their projects and contemporary practices. The series will provide insights into specific cross-disciplinary areas including Publishing, Education, Design, Science, Healthcare and Curation.

On 18 May, artist Sarah Christie will lead a conversation about the role of art in science and science education. Sarah will talk about her work within medicine and describe how she collaborates with a clinical team.

Sarah Christie is an artist currently exploring the traces and expressions of touch and forms of contact. Working in clay and with drawing, she is investigating and developing research around skin and the body, and embodiment through materials. She teaches at Imperial College Medical School, as well as running occasional workshops for adults and children. Her regular arts-based workshops for medical students develop tactile and visual observation, descriptive and communication skills through language, drawing and 3D modelling. Sarah collaborates closely with a clinical team which has inspired cross fertilisation of thinking, informing her own artistic practice, and in turn feeding back into her teaching work. She leads visual arts workshops and supervises students on the BSc Humanities, Philosophy and the Law, also at Imperial’s Medical School.
