Olive Gibbs

Olive Gibbs, born in February 1918, was a redoubtable local Labour politician and peace campaigner. She saved Jericho from destruction and helped to get the Cutteslowe walls demolished. She was also a founding member and the national chair of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament (CND). Speakers at this celebration of her life will include Bruce Kent (former general secretary, CND), Simon Gibbs (son of Olive Gibbs), Christine Simm (Oxford Deputy Lord Mayor) and Liz Woolley (Oxford local historian). Refreshments will be provided.
