Four young artists, Amy Rose Holland, Emma Pearce, Rosannagh Scarlet Esson and Ella Shepard, all recent graduates from Oxfordshire, have responded to the 2017 panto ‘Sleeping Beauty’ and have made colourful paintings, drawings, installation and ceramics for their SLEEP exhibition in the gallery at the theatre for the entire two months of the panto run.

The Private View is 8 - 9.30 pm on Saturday 18th November, there will be a performance of the panto at 6pm.

Local arts project AYYO Contemporary Art at Charlbury, in partnership with The Theatre Chipping Norton, is supporting the four artists to mount their exhibition as part of the ILLUSTORY EU mentoring project, now in its second year. The theme of the project is discovering stories and the artists are encouraged to delve into the literary works that are emblematic of their own cultures. They consider why they are so loved and make contemporary visual responses to them and it is hoped, vision new stories together.

The project is led by AYYO Creative Director and practising artist Clare Carswell MA(RCA), this year with Emily Moseley, Creative Producer at the theatre, and offers mentoring to young artists from the region, to help them to test the skills required to work as arts professionals. This year AYYO has worked closely with The Theatre Chipping Norton to select the artists and to support them as they made their exhibition. The artists were given unique access by the theatre to rehearsals, script and set designs to help them with planning their artworks.
