Searchlight - discovering local talent for Folk Weekend: Oxford 2018.

At FWO we are always very keen to showcase local musicians; in fact, at every single festival since we started in 2012 at least half of our booked artists have been from Oxfordshire.

Oxfordshire has such a vibrant and active community of musicians, and we would like to give anyone who plays folk, traditional or roots music locally the chance to let us see and hear what you do, in our 'Searchlight' events.

WHAT SORT OF 'FOLK'?
FWO is a community festival first and foremost, so it doesn't all have to be straight up trad (though obviously that is welcome too!); we are open to hearing any artist who performs genuine, interesting music. If you'd feel comfortable performing at a folk festival, then we'd love to hear from you.

DO I HAVE TO BE FROM OXFORDSHIRE?
We will give priority to musicians currently living within, or originally from, Oxfordshire. However if you're just over the border we definitely won't turn you away!

*The Blue Room is upstairs at St Aldates Tavern so access is limited. We will be holding another 'Searchlight' in October in an accessible venue; please email admin@folk-arts-oxford.co.uk for more details*
