Mughal book painting in the golden age of the late 16th and early 17th centuries demonstrates fascinating cross-cultural influences. Manuscripts written in Persian, the language of the court, had illustrations strongly influenced by Iran and Europe, as well as by the Hindu and Muslim traditions of the subcontinent.
