For many people one of the most classic sounds of Spanish dance is the sound of castanets. Learning to play castanets is enjoyable and interesting and if you're serious about learning all forms of Spanish dance, including Flamenco, learning to play castanets is an essential part of your dance development. The workshop we are running on Saturday 25 March in central Oxford will teach you all about castanets. The workshop has two levels, so whether you're a complete beginning who has never tried castanets before, or a skilled dancer with a good working knowledge of how to play them, we have something for everyone!

Level 1 Workshop (13.30 - 14.30) teaches the basics of castanets: how to hold them, how to play them and how to play a selection of popular rhythms played with Flamenco palos including Sevillanas and Fandangos.

Level 2 Workshop (14.30 - 15.30) is for people who already know the basics of playing castanets. This workshop will increase your knowledge, expertise and confidence as you learn to play castanets for a complete short choreography of Fandangos.

WHEN: Saturday 25 March
PRICE: £9.00 (or £15 for both workshops)
WHERE: Pegasus Theatre dance studio (Oxford).

The workshop will be taught by Rosa Maria Reed, senior Flamenco dance teacher for Camino del Flamenco. Pegasus Theatre is in central Oxford and easily reached by public transport as it's on the No. 3 bus route from the centre of Oxford. It has secure bike parking and on street car parking.
