Model Ruby in Clay, will be the workshop model

Step-by-step guidance on how to set up and execute a portrait of convincing likeness in clay. We will cover the planes on the head, the clay and the use of tools and although time will not allow for actually finishing, a discussion of various patination techniques will take place. For reference we have a life model and a replica skull.

Day One - we work with a model, preparing the armature and modelling the skull. Exercises on individual features will also take place.

Day Two – we work with the same model and apply knowledge and experiences from Day One to rendering a likeness of our model, a young female.

This short course is suitable for experienced sculptors, as well as beginners. There will be a small charge for clay, but firing of the finished portrait is included.

Maximum 10 students

Refreshments: Tea and coffee will be available throughout the day.
Most students bring a packed lunch.
