Objects from our prestigious modern crafts collection meet their historic counterparts. This exhibition invites you to enjoy the superb craftsmanship and artistry of contemporary crafts and contemplate origins and synergies of similar historic items from the Oxfordshire museum collections. Enjoyable, quirky and informative.
The exhibition contains works from the prestigious contemporary Southern Arts Crafts collection featuring artists such as Kate Malone, John Makepeace, Michael Brennand- Wood, Carol Waller and many more. Objects from our historic collections were chosen to contrast these items with their unique stories, whether personal, historical or technological.
Find the hidden secret of a bentwood chair, marvel at the beauty of intricate embroidery and reminisce about past times. Whether you are interested in history or creative arts, this exhibition will offer a new perspective to all those who like museum artefacts.

The exhibition was co-curated by Anne Griffiths, a local artist, who chose the exhibits and individual themes in the exhibition and will be on show at the Oxfordshire Museum over the summer.
