Cherwell Theatre Company (CTC) is delighted to return to local landmark Broughton Castle next month for two nights of exciting theatre with the audience in the centre of the action within the picturesque gardens and medieval Great Hall.

It is the first time CTC has performed at the ancestral home of the Fiennes family since 2009 when the popular promenade production "A Shakespeare Summer Soiree" featured a cast of more than 40 professional actors and local young people performing classic Shakespeare scenes.

2016's event, taking place on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 at 8pm is presented by the thriving youth theatre group, which has split into two theatre companies to present unforgettable and extraordinary promenade and ‘immersive’ theatre experiences.

As always, the young people of CTC take the lead with Almira Brion, who last performed in January's seasonal show Cinderella, now turning her hand to directing.

Her companies piece ‘Listen’ takes place on the Saturday evening.

Ms Brion said: “"I have been most excited by this project. It's a great opportunity for us to explore performing outside of a traditional theatre space, as well as become our own mini theatre company, taking on roles behind the scenes as well.”

Michael Deacon, who directs the second companies ''Shakespeare: 400 and a half Years Later" which plays on Sunday, said: “It's a great opportunity to use such a beautiful location as Broughton Castle. This project is a chance for all CTC members to have real ownership of their work and have some fun with devising characters that may explore some 'larger than life' personalities in the world of theatre!"

The project, supported by CTC professional associates Jess Lloyd-Jones and Jessie Braviner, not only gives young people an opportunity to act in and devise their own unique show but gives participants the opportunity to take on writing, stage management, design, sound and even marketing duties for their companies, providing them with a rounded experience of working as a theatre collective.

Tickets can be purchased on the door for this event priced at £4/£3 concessions. To find more information on CTC see cherwelltheatrecompany.co.uk and Broughton Castle at www.broughtoncastle.com
