The Amey Theatre lies at the centre of the Arts Centre at Abingdon School. Originally built in the 1980s, it has been recently refurbished including new seating, completely new technical infrastructure and a new ventilation system. The Theatre also boasts a large 8m x 5m cinema projector screen, HD projector and 7.1 surround sound and regularly streams live broadcasts from the National Theatre, Royal Opera House and Royal Shakespeare Company
The raked 438 (or 456) seat auditorium means that the stage can be seen clearly from every seat in the house.
With a performance space of roughly 10m x 10m, the Amey Theatre can accommodate large companies. There forestage is removable to reveal a modest sized orchestra pit.
The Theatre is supported by various green rooms and adjacent classrooms that can be used as changing rooms or props rooms, two drama studios for rehearsal spaces and light conservatory style foyer. There is also an automated and online Box Offie system available for use.
