
The Audiences & Commercial Director provides strategic leadership and management for the Watermill Theatre’s customer-facing teams. They will oversee all communications, ensure an excellent experience for everyone engaging with the Watermill and oversee the development of commercial opportunities and partnerships.
Playing a key role in the organisation, they will be working closely with the executive and strategic team to ensure that communications, customer experience and commercial opportunities sit at the heart of our decision-making. The Audiences & Commercial Director will be a powerful brand advocate, ensuring that every touch point for audiences, participants, donors, partners, investors and visitors reflects the Watermill’s mission, vision and ethos. All of this will be underpinned by a commercial acumen that enables the organisation to maximise income through box office, bars, catering, events and front of house.
The Audiences & Commercial Director will be joining a strong team who have delivered outstanding results over the last three years. Attracting c58k people annually, the average capacity across Watermill Productions is 88% - reflecting that attendance is back at pre-pandemic levels. Numbers of new bookers and the frequency of loyal bookers have both increased alongside a 50% increase in production income over the last three years.
They will be ready to shape the department to ensure that we continue to grow and diversify our income. They will also play a key role in the development of capital plans for the improvement of our hospitality and event facilities, as well as the wider site and buildings.
