We are seeking a designer for GLACIER, a new “Christmas show for adults” produced at Old Fire Station, Oxford.
Lake Foxleighmere is a tranquil place, especially at Christmas. Lucy thinks it’s the perfect place for a good scream. Jools thinks it’s the perfect place to escape her family, just for an hour. Dawn thinks it’s the perfect place to become invisible.
All three have created an unofficial tradition of swimming at the same place on the same day. A place they can be away from responsibilities, from their lost potential and from the people they love.
Glacier is a darkly funny play about wild swimming, female friendship, and the pressure of having a nice Christmas.
GLACIER is written by Alison Spittle, and directed by Madelaine Moore.
The designer will be responsible for the design and creation of the set and costumes for this show. Rehearsals begin in November, and the show will premiere on 4 December 2023. It is a festive comedy with three performers, taking place in a small black-box space laid out in thrust.
Due to the small theatre and low budget, creativity is key – we're looking for someone who can help us represent water and wild swimming on a 5x5 stage in a fun, playful way.
