“Let’s Celebrate Recycling”
• Cherwell District Council is celebrating its 20th year of Recycling Service and wish to commission an imaginative artwork to commemorate this landmark anniversary.
• The artwork created should be sculptural in nature and of a scale to create a strong visual impact, employing recycled or recyclable materials in its construction. It needs to be moveable and a fully self-supporting piece.
• The artwork should embody the virtues of the ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ ethos and be reasonably transportable via one of CDC electric vans. It can be modular in design but robust enough to tour and display at a variety of outdoor settings throughout the year, with a projected lifespan of 3 – 5 years potentially.
• Interactive features or participatory processes are encouraged in the creation, to aid awareness and promote sustainability matters in the community and local schools. Some additional resources may be available to support engagement elements.
• The artwork must be fully completed by July 17th 2023 at the latest.
• Recycling resources, facts and figures can be provided via:
https://www.cherwell.gov.uk/info/10/rubb...

• The budget available is £4500 (inclusive of all costs, travel & expenses)

Please submit an Expression of Interest by March 23, 2023 with any initial ideas/responses you have for the proposed commission, and include examples of your previous work and 2 appropriate references.
Shortlisted artists will be invited to interview in April 2023 to expand on their concept and approach to the work, with basic travel/expenses provided.
