The exceptional and experienced candidate who undertakes this role will be jointly responsible with the Joint Director and CEO (JCEOArtistic) for the visiting artistic programme presented at Oxford Playhouse, the Burton Taylor Studio and our off-site programme, Playhouse Plays Out. A background in programming is essential, as are a love of theatre and an understanding of the range of audiences Oxford Playhouse serves and aims to develop. We are looking for someone with excellent communication and interpersonal skills, a level-headed, common sense approach and close attention to detail. A good-humoured individual with initiative, creativity and the ability to think strategically, the successful candidate will be equally happy welcoming a visiting company onstage, mentoring emerging artists on our Artists’ Attachment Programme and haggling the nitty-gritty of contras and calls in touring contracts.

Alongside our world-class received programme, Playhouse has a unique relationship with the University of Oxford, whose students present up to 5 weeks of programming on the mainstage each year. We also have a commitment to several local amateur and community groups, who present shows in rotation at the Playhouse.

The Senior Producer will be a vital part of the Senior Management Team, and will demonstrate the ambition and drive to expand their skills and contribute to the cultural life of this great city.

Artistic Objectives:
The delivery of Oxford Playhouse’s Programming strategy ensuring a broad range of high quality work is presented which connects with and encourages the development of audiences.

Main Purpose of Job:
Working to the JCEO Artisticto programme the mainstage shows, and then devising, implementing and managing Oxford Playhouse’s received programme to ensure a broad and diverse range of quality cross art-form work in the main theatre; and take lead responsibility for the Burton Taylor Studio and Playhouse Plays Out programme to achieves the organisation’s financial and audience development aims.
