The Theatre Chipping Norton are seeking a professionally experienced Assistant Director / Dramaturg to support our production of The Mountaintop by Katori Hall, an Olivier Award-winning play about Martin Luther King. The role would suit someone in the early-mid stages of a theatre career, and we encourage applications from those with insights to offer into the history and contemporary social issues relevant to the play.

This role will support the Director in all aspects of delivering the production, creatively and logisitcally. To support the rehearsal process in person through sharing an understanding of the history, politics and ideas behind the play, and how they manifest within the text and our interpretation of it. The successful candidate will also support the Take Part department with materials and ideas for wraparound education activities.

Rehearsals: 11th April 2022 onwards, in Oxfordshire
Technical & Dress Rehearsals: 2nd May, 3rd May, 4th May
Opening Night: Wednesday 4th May
Performances: 4th May - 18th June
Assistant Director / Dramaturg contract: 11th April to 6th May 2022 (4 weeks)
