The Theatre Chipping Norton is a restlessly busy and ambitious theatre and arts centre in
the Cotswolds. Bringing over 50,000 people every year to a town of little over 7,000. The
Theatre delivers a year-round programme of theatre, comedy, music, film and
participatory activities for audiences across the region. More recently, we have grown as
a producing house, creating three major productions each year and growing a stronger
and more loyal audience as a result.

The Theatre, sited in a Victorian former Salvation Army Citadel, is a charming and warm
environment for this wide range of activities. In addition to the main 200+ seat
auditorium, we have a range of workshop and rehearsal spaces and a gallery exhibiting
local and national artists.

Our customer welcome is a key part of our success. Full of character, knowledgeable
about the work we host, and deeply rooted in the local community, our front of house
team consists of 2-3 established posts, a number of paid casual bar staff, and a large pool
of hard-working volunteer ushers.

We are recruiting for a confident, warm and welcoming person or people to join our
team as Deputy House Manager. This role is a mixture of administrative work, managing
our volunteer Ushers, Duty Management of performances and servicing/stocking The
Theatre’s bar.

The Theatre sits at the heart of its community and is an important part of many people’s
lives. It is run by a small team of around 12 permanent staff, with support from casuals and
volunteers. The Theatre has continued as many activities as possible during the last 16
months including most Take Part activities, a full weekend cinema programme whenever
possible, a month-long in house produced Christmas show, and a season of al fresco
cinema and live events this summer. The team have worked tirelessly and loyally
throughout the current pandemic and are looking ahead now to a full Autumn Season.

The Theatre team are friendly and supportive. We have a book club and lunchtime staff
screenings, and even put on the recent football games in the auditorium. We have a dog
day once a week, staff look after our small back garden and we like to have a big BBQ in
the summer months. We meet regularly to discuss mental health as group and strive to
make The Theatre an enjoyable place to work for all.

We are interested in finding the right people for us and fitting the job around them. The
role is currently a full time position working a flexible 40 hours a week, including a
proportion of evenings and weekends, but this can easily be two part time posts. We
would therefore welcome applications from those looking for part time work and from
those with very little theatre or customer experience. If you think you are the right
person to work here we would love to hear from you.

Closing date: 10:00 Monday 23 August 2021
Interviews: 1 -2 September
Salary: £20,000 - £21,000 pa
Flexible Hours: We would welcome applications from any interested parties for either a
part time (28 hrs minimum) or full time (40 hrs) position. We are interested in finding the
best people for us and structuring the job around them.
