As part of the FAH programme, CDAN are running its FLOURISH creative arts and dementia training course from April to July 2020. The course is tailored to meeting the learning needs of artists, dancers and musicians who want to learn about working with older patients in hospital or older patients discharged home or to care homes. Over half of these will be mentally frail and most will have dementia.
The course includes: a non residential 2 day workshop ( applicants can apply for either 29 & 30 April (Banbury) or 16 &17 May (Witney or Bicester). Afterwards FLOURISH trainees co-work with creative practitioners with extensive experience of arts and dementia who are leading creative arts sessions on wards, in care homes or in community day settings. The course requires trainees to do 8 hours of practice learning ( 4 sessions - dates are flexible). Full course materials, a Course Handbook, and a certificate of completion is provided and FLOURISH CPD available . The course costs £150
We are prioritising applications from creative practitioners that live and work in Oxfordshire or live outside the county and work in it. However if you live outside Oxfordshire but can commit to training and practice learning in North Oxfordshire, we shall consider your application as we are keen to build capacity in arts, health and wellbeing in dementia.
